* Additional public holiday for Sunday, 25 December 2011.
Published LW 18 February 2011.
## Transferred public holiday for Christmas Day.
It’s time for the citizens of New South Wales in Australia to sing OO-la-la. Yes! NSW public holidays 2011, 2012 and 2013, all fall very close to the weekends.
NSW public holidays are declared according to the Public Holidays Act 2010.
For the years 2011 and 2012, the NSW public holidays list has an addition. An additional holiday has been declared on the following day of the New Year’s Day. In 2011, though the New Year day falls on Saturday, Monday, the 3rd of January has been declared as an additional holiday. On the other hand, the New Year day in the year 2012 falls on Sunday and so an additional holiday has been declared on the 2nd of January.
In the list of NSW public holidays, the Queen’s of Australia’s official birthday falls on Monday in all the three years and so an additional advantage for the citizens to enjoy a long weekend.
Though the Christmas Day in the year 2011 falls on Sunday, a transferred holiday has been declared on the following day that is on Monday, the 26th of December. As the Christmas holiday has been transferred to Monday, a holiday for Boxing Day has been declared on Tuesday, the 27th of December. Post Easter Sunday that falls on 24th of April in the year 2011, a substituted holiday has been declared on the 25th of April.
On the occasion of Anzac day, 25th of April in the year 2011 has been declared as a public holiday. Interestingly this day falls on Monday and so it is a long weekend again!
The whole year of 2011 consists of only two additional holidays and one substituted holiday for special occasions.
The NSW public holidays’ list is prepared and released well in advance and rarely any changes made to the list.
