Christmas Day

Santa Claus, a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, the glowing star, surprising gifts, lots of cakes and sweets; loads of fun. Christmas is the most loved and most awaited festival for every individual who loves to celebrate to the core.

Christmas day is the most wonderful day in the lives of those who follow Christianity. 25th of December is the birthday of Jesus Christ and this day is celebrated with utmost devotion and love by Christians around the world.

Christmas day has gained significance in not just Christian families but also in the families belonging to different communities round the globe. Melodious carols, bunches of beautiful flowers and vibrant colored cloths decorate the churches on Christmas day.

Christmas day is exciting and magical while people celebrate the birth of the lord in high spirits and dedication. This day leaves each Christian with a delightful experience.

The 'Christmas story' talks about Mother Mary giving birth to Jesus Christ inside a stable in Bethlehem. At the very moment Jesus is born, it is said that the birth news is announced by the angels to the shepherds in the fields, following which the wise men from the East went to see the new born Jesus and offered gifts.

Although 25 December was celebrated as the birthday of Jesus since 336 AD, almost 6 centuries later churches started a service for people to worship the lord and celebrate the occasion.

Though the Christmas star is lit and put up the whole month of December till the New Year’s arrival, the actual celebrations start on the 24th of December. Most popular customs of the Christianity are performed on the eve of the Christmas day. On this day, the Christmas tree is decorated so beautifully and glows in glory.

The traditional Christmas dinner is generally celebrated as a reunion by family members and friends. Following this Santa Claus visits all the children and presents them with surprising gifts.
