Australia’s bush capital and the capital territory of the Commonwealth of Australia is the ACT, the Australian Capital Territory, Canberra.
The Australia capital territory apart from Canberra has agricultural land that covers the sheep, dairy cattle, vineyards and some crops. Apart from this, it also has large are of national park which is densely covered with mountains and forests. The townships located in the ACT are Williams’s dale, Naas, Uriarra, Tarawa and Hall respectively.
The list of ACT public holidays is same as that of the lists of public holidays observed across all the other states and territories in Australia.
Just like all the other states and territories of Australia celebrate special occasions, ACT also celebrates them with unity and diversity. Similar to the other parts of Australia, the citizens of ACT observe ACT public holidays on the New Year day on the 1st of January, Australia day on the 26th of January, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, Anzac day on the 25th of April, Queen’s Birthday, Labor Day, Christmas day on the 25th of December and Boxing day on the 26th of December.
The list of ACT public holidays reflects two special days unlike the public holidays’ list of other states and territories. Those two special days are the Canberra Day and the family and community day.
Canberra Day is declared as a public holiday in the ACT. The citizens of ACT observe Canberra day on the second Monday in the month of March every year. It is celebrated in commemoration to the official foundation of Canberra way back in the year 1913. This day is remarkable in the history of ACT and is a major festival in the territory.
Family and Community Day in ACT is observed as a public holiday on the first Monday either in September or in October in order to spend quality time with family and friends.
The following days are public holidays under the National Employment Standards:
1 January (New Year’s Day)
26 January (Australia Day)
Good Friday
Easter Monday
25 April (Anzac Day)
Queen’s birthday holiday
(on the day it is celebrated in a state or
territory or a region of a state or territory)

These days may be substituted for another day under state or
territory law, by agreement under the terms of an award or
agreement, or between an employer
and an award / agreement free employee.
Additional public holidays can also be provided under state or
territory law. For example, regional public holidays that apply only
